Transfiguring pain

ComedyBeat just posted my story about Mike DeStefano, the recovering addict turned stand-up comedian. I confess Mike’s story has a special meaning for me. I’m intimately acquainted with heroin addiction through a person who’s very close to me. It thrilled me to hear Mike describe how he worked through what for many of us is indescribably painful by stripping away all pretense and finding a way to redemption through laughter.
