Wild cheering – Mubarak out, bows to public will

All of Egypt in the streets, jubilant— cheering, dancing, waving flags, singing, shouting, crying for joy. “Indescribable happiness.” The people have finally been heard after 18 days of peaceful protest and 30 years of oppression. Not the violence feared by most after Mubarak’s disappointing, cynical speech yesterday, but an exploding of emotion.

Tomorrow we’ll worry about what happens next. This is the beginning, not the end. A new Egypt.
